Marc Cucurella hits out at Chelsea board, calling for ‘stability’ under Enzo Maresca

Marc Cucurella has called on the Chelsea board to bring some “stability” to the club by giving Enzo Maresca the opportunity to succeed.

It has been a typically chaotic few years at Stamford Bridge since the Todd Boehly-led consortium completed their takeover, with more than £1bn spent on transfer fees.

Graham Potter was brought in and then fired seven months later after signing a five-year contract, while Mauricio Pochettino spent just one season on the Stamford Bridge bench before leaving by mutual consent in May.

The Blues won their last five games of the season under Pochettino to sit sixth, securing a place in Europe for the current campaign, but the decision was still taken to part ways.

It is now Maresca’s turn to try to build on his performance, even though Chelsea have only picked up four points from their first three Premier League games.

Cucurella is confident the Italian can get the best out of the Chelsea squad, but only if there is enough “patience” from the club’s hierarchy.

“I think the coach we have (Enzo Maresca) is very good, he has very clear ideas,” Cucurella told EFE.

“We have had years of coaching changes, let’s see if we can achieve stability without too many changes and for the manager to be able to transmit his ideas. We need stability, we have very high level players and I hope we can have the necessary patience, this calm, for everything to go well.

“We have the level, we just need stability and for the coaches and players to be able to work to do something important.”
