Perfect weather conditions for Battery Park junior parkrun on Sunday

No fewer than 36 young runners gathered in Battery Park on Sunday to take part in the 151st junior parkrun.

Buoyed by ideal weather conditions, the young athletes were supervised by 15 volunteers.

Among the newcomers, Isla and Sophie took part in the junior parkrun for the first time.

The race was not short of exceptional performances, as a total of ten youngsters, Ella, Rudi, Murray, Jamie, Ailie, Kayla, Ruairidh, Rowan, Isla and Rowan, managed to set new personal bests.

Celebrity participants Alice, Ruairidh and Luke reached enviable milestones, receiving their half marathon, marathon and ultra marathon wristbands respectively.

In the same vein, Murray, Craig and Louis also marked important milestones.

All three, having completed their 11th, 11th and 50th junior parkrun respectively, are set to receive the coveted mileage wristbands on their next participation.

Among the volunteers, Susanne stood out by helping out for the 50th time at the Battery Park junior parkrun.

The fastest runners in the race were Louis, who clocked 7:11, and Elijah and Rudy who followed at 7:51 and 8:45.

In the girls’ race, Faye completed the course in 8:59, closely followed by Ella with 9:25 and Isla with 9:54.

The event organisers expressed their gratitude to all the volunteers, including Sandra Campbell, Aidan Canning, Lesley Dick, Lynne Fulton, James Gavin, Rhona Hair, Tracey Howe, Celeste McKnight, Marjorie Morrison, Rachel Neil, Kirsty Ormond, Susanne Stetz, Caitlin Taylor, William Taylor and Sarah Ward.

The organizers are inviting more volunteers for the following weeks.
